Missing My Holiday Kick-off Trip

I love the Travel channel, I really do - but right now I'm a little upset with them. I recently Tivo'd a couple of Disney holiday specials, and now I'm really bummed that we didn't go to Disney over the Holidays. Since 1998, we have chosen to kick-off the holiday season by going to Disney over Thanksgiving weekend. Just a quick 4 day trip to start the season off right. If you're not in the mood for the holidays, you WILL be after a Disney visit.

First, we watched "Disney Holiday Magic" with Samantha Brown. If that wasn't enough, there was the adorable Raven Symone who hosted a show all about the wonderful culinary treats at Disney. Of course, it's great to be home for the holidays - take a look at our house all lit up (it ain't the Osborne lights but, hey, we love it).

Here we are at Osborne last year......

The one year we don't go - Disney adds new stuff. I love what they've done with the castle this year - amazing!

Park-hopping is one thing - resort-hopping during the holidays is quite another....and just as magical. No admission required.

My favorite edible lobby treat - the chocolate carousel at the Beach Club.

This is, I believe, the real Santa Claus.

The year was 1998. We were at the original, and I think superior, Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights display. The new one on the "streets of America" just isn't the same. We ran into this nice gentlemen who obviously looks like "you know who." I asked him, "Are you Santa Claus." (I know, it's childish for a middle-aged woman to be so googly-eyed over Santa). He said, "Yes I am, they really do it up right here for the Holidays don't they?" Was this just another Disney guest who just looked liked Santa, or did Disney plant him to walk the streets to spread cheer?

Or maybe, just maybe, it was Santa Claus. It is Disney after all.....if you can visit Mickey Mouse then why not Santa?
